Jessica Prouty Band

   After the Studio...

It is here. Jessica, lead singer and bassist, has finished the last track on a 9-track CD. This "classic alternative metal" CD that ranges from soulful ballads, to hard-edged mixes, to "great time" rock anthems was released at the Hard Rock Boston on July 18th. It is now available from iTunes and Amazon.

Fifteen-year old Jessica wrote most of the tracks herself with some help from 15-year old bandmember Cam Pelkey, the duo of Cam Pelkey and Greg Worth, or with Brian Maes.

The Backstory

Veteran musician and Briola-label-owner Brian Maes worked with Jessica when she was the lead singer and bassist in a garage band and suggested that she make a CD to go to the next level of the music biz. Jessica started to record the CD with session players, the best of the best around Boston. Musicians Brian Maes, Kook Lawry, Tim Archibald, Paul Soares, and Ricky Plourde, veterans of many recordings, helped make the early tracks stand out. But something wonderful happened during the recording...

 The Band Formed

Jessica found first-rate musicians her own age to help finish the tracks. She managed to pull together a group of kids to form a band that play live and do justice to every track on the CD.

 The Players...

  • First Cam Pelkey, 15, the drummer, joined in early and plays on most of the tracks. He had worked with Jessica in a previous band. His driving beat and onstage showmanship look like they belong to someone twice his age.
  • Cody Nilsen, 15, lead guitarist, joined, protege of the veteran Kook Lawry who played on the tracks. Cody was the one that Kook thought could take on the challenge of following in his footsteps. (Since Jessica and Cam affectionately called Kook "Super Kook" and said he should put on a cape because what he was doing with the guitar was superhuman, this is a tall order.)
  • Finally, Andy Covino, 13, keyboardist, student of Brian Maes and former summer garage bandmate of Jessica's, joined in to complete the sound.

  The Experience behind the band...

The CD is produced, arranged, engineered, and mixed by Brian Maes, owner of Briola records. He is a former member of the Billboard charting RTZ and songwriter of the top 20 Billboard hit, When Your Love Comes Back Around. He opened for Aerosmith and for U2, and he toured around the world with Peter Wolf: he knows the music biz.
